69 Final year B.Tech students of Chandigarh Group of Colleges got placements in leading companies much before the completion of their degree courses. These students belonging to Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering & Civil Engineering have been selected in Capgemini (16 Students), Tech Mahindra (11), Surya Wires (10), Mind Tree (7), Education Culture (7) & Steel Strips Wheels (18). Some of the selected candidates are taking their six months Industrial Training of their final semester in respective companies during which they are getting handsome stipends. All other candidates will take over their respective assignments as soon as the results of their final semester exams are declared. The starting salary of these students ranges from Rs. 25000/- to Rs. 30000/- p.m.In addition to this, some of these companies are offering accommodation, pick & drop facility and lunch at subsidized rates.

Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC said that placements of the students are extremely close to the heart of the management of CGC. For this a large number of companies are invited for holding placement drives in the campus throughout the year. The number of companies visiting CGC is so large that quite often more than one company is holding campus placement drive on the same day.   Dr. G.D.Bansal, Director General said that since the number of jobs available in market is much less than the number of students, the companies have become highly choosy & their selection process has become tough. However, CGC prepares its students thoroughly by giving them a 360 degree pre placement training right from the day one. Dr. Bansal said that the first batch of Jhanjeri campus passed out in 2016 and second batch will pass out in July 2017. Almost all the eligible students of both these batches have already been placed.
