Chandigarh Group of Colleges Jhanjeri students pursuing B.Tech course in CSE, ECE, Mech. and Civil Engineering disciplines have received job offers from leading companies of India much before the completion of their degrees. These students are going to pass out in July 2017, but they are extremely happy to have received job offers from IT giants Hewlett Packard (HP), Wipro, Cognizant, IBM etc. Mood in the whole college is full of ecstasy and enthusiasm over receiving as many as 27 offers from Cognizant, 26 from Wipro, 11 from IBM and 7 from Hewlett Packard Enterprises. The students selected in HP will get a package of more than Rs. 4 lakh p.a. while those in Wipro, Cognizant, IBM and other companies will get Rs. 3 lakh to Rs. 4 lakh p.a.
As per preference of these students, the place of posting for majority of them will be in Delhi, Gurgaon or Noida. Some of them may be sent to Banglore and other cities. Almost All of them will be given training for about six months after which they will be put on live projects.Speaking on the occasion, Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC said that he gives top priority to the placement of students. For this, CGC has established a Placement Office in Delhi which is headed by Director Placements, Himani Sood. This office maintains a close liaison with various companies having their corporate offices in Delhi and fixes their programme for holding placement drives in CGC.
Dr.G.D.Bansal, Director General said that CGC is ranked number 1 in the region regarding placements of students. A record number of companies visit CGC for carrying out their placement drives. Further, to ensure a better success rate in the tough interviews of these companies, CGC conducts a 360 degrees pre-placement training program which is started right from first year of admission. In this program, the students are given training about Aptitude tests, Soft Skills, Personality Development, Group Discussions, Technical & HR Rounds. Dr. Bansal added that the enviable placements of CGC students are due to the consistent efforts made by our Placement Cell, CRC Deptt., teachers and the trainers.
