The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today said it would make the new Congress government’s report card on law and order and non-fulfillment of promises to each sector of society the main poll issue in the forthcoming elections to municipal corporations in Punjab.Presiding over a meeting of councilors of Jalandhar at the party head office here, former minister Dr Daljit Singh Cheema, who has been made incharge of Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur and Nawansheher districts to take feedback on formation of the new party organization, said the SAD would also highlight the political murders being committed by Congress goons as well as complete breakdown of law and order in the State.Dr Cheema said all development work had been stopped in all cities of the State. “Even work which was in progress has been stalled with the government withdrawing the money already released for the same. New projects which were in the pipeline have also been stopped.

Even water and sewerage projects have been affected by this anti- people decision”, the former minister said adding it did not behove any government to mistreat its own people like this. The senior leader also announced that the party would hold a meeting in Jalandhar on May 28 to take feedback from councilors as well as party representatives about the new organizational structure in the district. “Committee members including me, Paramjit Sidhwan and Sant Singh Umaidpur will interact with party workers and cadre to take their suggestions on this issue. We are keen that the organizational structure, right up to the ward level, is formed at the earliest”, he added. All SAD councilors of Jalandhar attended the meeting which was also attended by party Jalandhar Cantonement candidate Sarabjit Singh Makkar and senior district leaders Charanjit Singh Channi and Baljeet Singh Neelmahal besides party secretary Charanjit Singh Brar.
