Students clash with forces at Srinagar, Magam

The students of SP College Srinagar and Government Higher Secondary School Magam Monday clashed with forces At M A Road Srinagar and Magam town of Budgam district respectively.However, the class work at SP Higher Secondary School continued to remain suspended today.The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad Lone had said that the teaching activity at SP HSS will remain suspended on Monday.Meanwhile, witnesses told KNS that the students from SP College staged protest inside the premise of the college and later tried to march towards the main road.However, police used tear gas canisters to disperse the protesting students, triggering clashes in the area.Witnesses said that a senior Police official was injured during the clashes and was shifted to the hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the students of Government Higher Secondary School Magam also staged a protest inside the school premises.Witnesses said that the students amid pro-freedom sloganeering tried to march towards the main road during which forces used tear gas shells to disperse them, triggering clashes in the Magam town.They informed that the students including a cop were injured during the clashes, who were treated at Sub District hospital Magam.Meanwhile, a police official said that the students tried to take streets, who were dispersed by using mild force.He said that the students also pelted stones on the forces, which resulted in the injury to a senior cop at Srinagar.
