Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh today visited the shelling affected areas in Nowshera sector and took stock of the situation.He was accompanied by MLA Nowshera, Ravinder Raina, Deputy Commissioner Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary and other senior officers of police and civil administration during the visit.The Deputy Chief Minister visited the relief camps setup by the administration for providing immediate relief and rehabilitation to affected families and took stock of the facilities being provided to them.While interacting with the shelling affected families Dr Singh said that every possible help from the government would be provided to the people and   also assured NOKs of the victims that they will be provided compensation by the Government.Later, Deputy Chief Minister held a meeting with District Administration at Nowshera which was attended by MLA Ravinder Raina, DDC Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, senior officers of police and civil administration.During the meeting threadbare discussion was held on various issues including the prevailing situation on LOC and   various measures being taken to save life and property of border residents in case of heavy shelling.

Deputy Commissioner  Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary apprised the Deputy Chief Minister that   eight villages of Nowshera have been badly affected by heavy shelling which include Khamba, Sarya, Bhawani, Kalsian, Manpur, Danaka, Khori and Ganya and   1114 persons of 298 families have been shifted  in 5 different relief camps established in Nowshera 

Deputy Commissioner  also informed that more than 2694 families comprised of 10,042 persons have been affected in shelling which lead to 2 death, leaving  6 injured, 65 livestock dead and damage to standing crops apart from nearly 45 partially and severely damaged houses. He said that district administration has provided an immediate relief of Rs 1.00 Lakh each to NOK of dead and financial assistance to injured. Appreciating the efforts of district administration in taking requisite measure to save life and property of people Deputy Chief Minister asked to ensure that administrative machinery is kept on alert for immediate response. He directed Animal Husbandry department to keep ready the teams of veterinary doctors to save injured livestock of farmers in case of heavy shelling.The Deputy Chief Minister directed the administration to assess the damages of the people’s property and livestock’s and prepare a detailed report so that sufferers would be compensated.Several delegations also called on the Deputy Chief Minister and put forth their grievances and demands.
