The State’s Law department will soon have a special cell to look into the frivolous litigations in courts so as to withdraw these for providing timely justice to the aggrieved persons. This was stated by the Minister for Law and Justice Abdul Haq during his interaction with the Government Lawyers at Advocate General’s Office today. The Minister said there is a practice of carrying on lawsuits that, due to their lack of legal merit, have little to no chance of being won. He said this leads to denial of justice to aggrieved persons by dragging them in the courts unnecessarily.Abdul Haq said the cell will be headed by a special secretary who will review all the pending cases to check frivolous litigations and in future all the litigations will go through the cell so as to have a check on them.He said the Government policy is not to contest every case for the sake of contesting it but to deliver justice. He said they will review cases and if the legal experts of the government find that the petitioner’s petition is valid and need to be accepted, government won’t hesitate in accepting the same.

During the visit to Advocate General’s Office on Saturday morning, Minister interacted with the Law Officers, Additional Advocate Generals, Government Lawyers and other staff of the AG’s office. They apprised the Minister about their issues. The Minister after giving patient hearings assured them that their genuine demands will be looked into.

On the demand of staff, the Minister announced construction of multi-storey additional accommodation at AG’s office which will include covered ground parking, library, Director Litigations’ Office and Government Lawyers’ chambers.Minister directed the concerned authorities to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the same so that work on the project can be started at earliest.Abdul Haq expressed satisfaction over the working of law officers and stated that there is always scope for improvement. He stressed on the lawyers to be prepared for bigger challenges and asked them to keep themselves updated with the knowledge which is prerequisite for a lawyer to be successful in his profession.Law Minister assured the staff of AG’s office that he will not allow stagnation in the department and Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meetings will be regularly held to promote the deserving staff to avoid unnecessary stagnation.Calling for synergy among various departments of the government, Minister said the coordination between the prosecution wing of JK Police, Investigation Agencies and Law department will ensure justice is delivered to the people. He said government is improving the criminal justice system in the state with fine tuning the investigation process and improving the FSL infrastructure. He said government is in process of deputing dedicated Police officers for the investigation.
