DC reviews progress of major projects, calls for timely completion

Deputy Commissioner, Ramesh Kumar, today on his second day of extensive tour to the district, visited Keerian-Gandyal and Nagri to inspect the pace of ongoing works in these areas.At Keerian-Gandyal, the DC took stock of construction of 2-lane Bridge over river Ravi which will have 1210 meter length with 7.50 km approach road and will get completed with an estimated cost of Rs. 166 crore, under Inter State connectivity (ISC) of Central Road Funds.This project will facilitate people of Keerian, Gandial, Ram Nagar and adjoining hamlets on the left bank Ravi river. After construction of this bridge, detour of more than 45 km distance will be reduced. 

This bridge will be of immense importance as this link will improve connectivity between J&K and Punjab significantly by reducing the distance and the duration of travel journey.  Further, it will boost local trade and tourism between these two States.At Nagri-Parole, the DC enquired about the status of SDH building which is being built at a cost of Rs 935 lakh and asked the executing agency to speed up the pace of work for its completion by 31st July.The DC asked the Executive Engineer R&B to immediately start the construction work of BMO office and conclude the ramp work as soon as possible. He directed the Executive Officer, MC Nagri-Parole and Executive Engineer, R&B to map the drainage system of SDH building so that safe and reliable draining can be provided from roof to basement.
