District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Aijaz convened a meeting to finalise the arrangements for two days Red Cross Mela slated to be held from May 8 at Maitra park.It was informed in the meeting that the main attraction of the Mela would be Raffle draw, Cultural and Sports events, launch of Red Cross Express, exhibition stall of departments and demonstration session to be conducted by the different departments besides awareness about cashless transactions .Speaking on the occasion the DDC stressed that the objective of the Mela is to highlight the fundamental principles of Red Cross movement, which include humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary services, unity and universality.He directed the BDOs to organize Red Cross Conferences and BMOs to organize Red Cross Health Mela at Block levels for sensitizing general masses about activity and motive of Red Cross. He impressed upon the officers to intensify membership drive for ensuring mass participation in noble causes of Red Cross.In order to ensure that the event encompasses the twin benefit of being informative as well as educative about various welfare schemes , officers were asked to focus on providing information about schemes and programmes about the schemes of their departments to the public visiting the mela. Later the DDC visited the mela site and reviewed the arrangements there .He was accompanied by ADDC, Ravinder Nath Sadhu, ADC Angrez Singh, DPO ICDS, ACD, CPO, DSWO, CMO, senior officers of various departments, representative of construction companies, members of Red Cross Executive Committee and other concerned officials.
