State Pollution Control Board(SPCB) today held awareness campaign to educate hospital managements about various guidelines and rules governing Pollution Control and bio-medical Waste Management.A team of SPCB headed by Divisional Officer, Doda/ Kishtwar visited Sub District Hospitals in Gandoh and Thathri. The team held detailed interaction with the medicos, para-medical staff and ASHA Workers of these Hospitals. They were told that this campaign is an exercise to inform and aware Public and the staff on various issues pertaining to the safe and Scientific Management of different types of waste being generated in health care establishments. He said awareness is the basic key to the safe management of waste especially biomedical and municipal solid waste. An extensive awareness lecture cum training Programme was jointly organized by Dr. Mehmood Khan BMO Gandoh and Divisional Officer SPCB Doda/ Kishtwar for Medicos, non-medicos, Para medicos and ASHA workers of the hospitals. The speakers gave a brief account of various activities undertaken by Pollution Control Board for curbing the menace of Pollution and Wastes. They briefed the audience about Pollution and Waste free homes which could become possible by daily management of wastes and prevention of indoor Air Pollution.As many as two hundred staff members and ASHA Workers were trained during two days awareness Programme which was highly appreciated by the staff, workers and Public. Dr. Pervaiz Mir Medical Officer, Dr. Rakhi Dental Surgeon, Mustaq Ahmed Khan BMO, Mohammad Shafi Block ASHA Coordinator, Prabhat Sharma of SPCB and others also attended the Programme.
