Additional Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Avny Lavasa today held a meeting with the district officers to review the arrangements for the three-day Annual Moungri Mela which would start from May14.The concerned departments were asked to make required arrangements for the smooth conduct of the mela. Tehsildar Moungri was deputed as the Mela officer.The departments like Horticulture, Agriculture, Sheep Husbandry, Animal Husbandry , Handlooms, Handicrafts, Fisheries , Sericulture were asked to put up their stalls at the mela site for generating awareness among the common masses about the departmental schemes.District Youth Services and Sports Officer, was directed to organize sports activities and tournaments on the occasion while Chief Education Officer, District Information Officer and Field Publicity Officer were asked to organize cultural programmes during the mela days.
Stress was laid on maintaining cleanliness at the mela site and for that the Municipal Committee was asked to depute sufficient number of civic workers at the venue. The CEO Municipal Committee and BDO Moungri were further directed to aware the common masses about the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (SBA).The three day mela attarcts a large number of pilgrims to the the Holy Shiv- Parvati cave, where they pay obeisance to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. A wrestling competition is also organized on the third and the last day of the mela which is one of the main attraction of the event.Chief Education Officer Bishan Singh, CEO MC Santosh Kotwal, DSWO Rachna Sharma, AD FCS & CA Haroon Naik, AD Tourism Shaziya Rehman, DYSSO Sudesh Kumar, CAO A. Koul , DIO Esha Chib besides Patron –in-chief Lord Shiva –Parvati Caves Shrine Moungari and President J& K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma and prominent citizens attended the meeting.
