A pistol borne unknown youth on Tuesday looted cash from a bank in Kader village of Kulgam district in south Kashmir.Sources said that a masked youth carrying a pistol barged inside Ellaquai Dehati Bank in Kader Yaripora area and looted over Rs 65,000 from the bank.Confirming the incident, Cluster Head, Ellaquai Dehati Bank Kulgam Zone, Ashok Kumar Butt told CNS that pistol borne youth entered into the bank and after looting the cash fled from the spot. He said incident occurred when employees were busy in public dealings.“The records show that Rs 65,850 has been looted by the gunmen,” he said.Shortly after the incident, Government Forces cordoned off the area to nab the looter.
Bank robbery incidents are on rise in South Kashmir. On December 15, 2016, masked gunmen looted Rs 11 lakh cash from JK Bank in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.On 16 February 2017, four masked gunmen looted Rs 3 lakh from JK Bank branch in Turqwangam village in Shopian district of south Kashmir.
