Strongly condemning the killing of an innocent civilian Ghulam Hassan Bhat at Panzgam Kupwara by the government forces, Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani demanded fair probe by impartial agencies.Meanwhile Syed Ali Geelani has announced to hold a condolence meeting in the memory of slain civilian here in Panzgam Kupwara on April 30, Sunday. He has appealed people of the surrounding areas to participate in the event to pay tributes to slain Gh Hassan.“This condolence meeting will be a tribute to the elderly civilian and in his appeal to people, Geelani asked to participate in the meeting in large number to protest against the brutal incident.In a statement issued to KNS, rejecting the statement of DC Kupwara for initiating inquiry in the case, Geelani said that state level inquiry commissions are unacceptable as till now not a single culprit was prosecuted or brought to book.While blaming forces, Geelani said that they are directly targeting civilians and unbridled state power is being enforced against innocents. He blamed state administration for unleashing violent measures against unarmed civilians. Syed Ali Geelani in his statement expressed his solidarity and sympathy with the family of slain Gh Hassan & said that government forces have virtually waged war against civilians and are carrying massacre under well thought plan.
While referring to recent statement of Indian army chief wherein Geelani said that those protesting during encounter would be treated as upper ground workers, Geelani said that egoistic and colonial approach of Indian politicians is the root cause of continuous bloodshed in state. Syed Ali Geelani blaming Indian authorities for mayhem in state, said that their inhuman policies are proving detrimental for civilians in state.Geelani asked Indian authorities to show wisdom & accept the disputed status as it will pave way for lasting solution to the vexed dispute.Meanwhile, Hurriyat Conference (G) has strongly condemned the arrest of chairperson Dukhtaran-e-Millat Aasiya Andrabi along with her secretary Fahmeeda Sofi. It is highly deplorable that forces raided their residence in pitch of dark at soura residence of & jumped above gate and entered premises to arrest them. APHC said that forces are not following any ethics nor respecting the dignity and sanctity of women folk.
In a statement issued to KNS, Hurriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar said that her detention is unjustified and Aasiya Andrabi is suffering from multiple ailments. Spokesman warned authorities and said that she is not keeping well and If any untoward happens to her, administration shall have to face consequences.Spokesman while referring to her unjustified arrest said, that authorities have virtually declared martial law & rule of law is suspended. He said that recent peoples uprising has caused frustration among authorities.Appealing human rights organization for their cognizance, spokesman urged to take cognizance and help in her release.Hurriyat Conference (G) expressed its deep concern over the reports of thrashing Molana Sarjan Barkati in police custody in Shopian. Lashing at police authorities for their brute & callous approach against Molana Sarjan Barkati, Hurriyat condemned and said that they are proving themselves more loyal than king.Since last nine months Molana Sarjan Barkati is languishing in jail and detention centers and he is being subjected to vengeance, said Hurriyat (G).
