Punjab Deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today said the Congress party's ship was sinking in Punjab with a large number of Congress legislators and senior leaders ready to join the SAD. We have a problem of plenty, said the SAD president adding the Congress rank and file had already thrown in the towel and its leaders were looking at the SAD as the only alternative because it had won the trust of the people of the State. Addressing a mammoth gathering of SAD-BJP workers at Majitha after laying the foundation stone of a sewerage project and inauguration of Patwarkhana, accompanied by Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia, Revenue Minister, Mr. Badal said the electorate of Punjab as well as the country understood that Mr Narindra Modi was the only person who could lead the country effectively and had decided to usher the NDA into power on the forthcoming parliamentary elections. "It is because of this that the people of Punjab are giving short shrift to Congressmen forcing them to quit the party", he added.

Earlier Prof. Sarchand Singh, media advisor in Congress party, who had left the SAD today also rejoined Shiromani Akali Dal in the presence of Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal and Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia. Mr. Badal announced that more than 28000 beneficiaries of Majitha constituency would get their blue cards within few days. He said the beneficiaries could get atta and daal @ Rs. 1 per kg and Rs. 20 per kg respectively from next month. He also informed Punjab has also approved more than 1 lakh tube well connections for farmers who had applied before 2007 or had less than 5 acres of land and the Majitha farmers would get the connections within a week.

Badal said Majitha constituency would have 100 percent sewerage network as the foundation stone of project along with state-of-the-art sewerage treatment plant worth Rs. 16.73 crore was laid today. He said within 2 years this long pending demand of residents would be fulfilled. He also inaugurated newly constructed Patwarkhana for the facilitation of population of Majitha and its adjoining areas. Mr. Badal said with the launch of new projects this area would become modern having 100 percent sewerage and drinking water facility besides other basic amenities. "Our government is committed for the cause of common man and has initiated and implemented number of projects in last 7 years regime of SAD-BJP," he said.In his address Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia said the Congress was responsible for all the ill facing Punjab and appealed to the people to boycott it completely. He said it was only the SAD BJP government which had come to the aid of border farmers and was even creating an industrial atmosphere besides job opportunities in the border belt.

Meanwhile former president of Nagar Council d Majithia and congress leader Mr. Prabhdyal Singh also joined the SAD fold.
