Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Monday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh for talks over the deteriorating security situation in the state.Reports said that Mehbooba Mufti met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi.Shortly after the culmination of meetings with the Prime Minister and Home Minister, Mehbooba Mufti while talking to reporters said that a dialogue will be initiated after situation normalizes in Kashmir Valley. She said that situation in Kashmir will improve in next two or three months after which a dialogue could be initiated.I understand that the coming 2-3 months are crucial for us. I want to say that you will find the situation of Jammu and Kashmir changed. We will first restore normalcy and then talks can be initiated. It is important to hold talks at the latest. There is a need for conducive atmosphere for talks, and for governance,” she told Reporters adding that  the central government at the highest level would have to take a decision on initiating a dialogue.

Reports said that during her meeting with Home Minister Rajnath Singh, at which BJP's general secretary incharge of the Jammu Kashmir, Ram Madhav, was also present, Mehbooba briefed Singh about the present law and order situation in the Valley.Responding to a question, Mehbooba Mufti said that incidents of stone-pelting and firing by security forces must come to an end. “The issues would be discussed at a meeting of the Unified Command in Kashmir,” she said.Pertinently, Unified Command meeting will be held in Srinagar on Tuesday that will be chaired by Chief Minister herself.Asked about the possibility of the imposition of Governor's rule in the state, Mehbooba said only the central government could comment on that.Reports said that during her meeting with Rajnath Singh, the Jammu Kashmir Chief Minister also raised the issue of security of Kashmiris living in different parts of the India, referring to reports of alleged threats to them in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. While replying to a question, Mehbooba said that she discussed the security situation in Kashmir and the issue of low voter turnout during recent by-polls to Srinagar parliamentary constituency with PM Modi during a meeting at the latter’s residence in New Delhi.I discussed the issue of lower voter turnout in recent elections, and security situation in Jammu and Kashmir with Prime Minister Modi,” she said. She added: “I pressed that J&K doesn’t have control over water resources, and how losses caused by Indus Waters Treaty can be compensated,” she said.“PM Modi has assured me he will follow policies laid down by former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee to resolve situation in Kashmir. Modi ji has repeatedly said that he would follow Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji’s footsteps, whose policy is of reconciliation not confrontation,” she said. (CNS)
