Senior National Conference leader and former Minister Mian Altaf Ahmed have expressed deep anguish over the attack on a nomadic family by some cow vigilantes in Reasi area and police inaction. In a statement issued to KNS, Mian Altaf said that a nomadic family was attacked and brutally assaulted by some so called cow vigilantes in Reasi area on Friday evening when the family along with their livestock was on way to Talwara area where they were intercepted by some cow vigilantes and were beaten up.Mian Altaf said that the so called cow vigilantes are trying to create tension in the society, adding that the police are not doing anything to stop such incidents rather a section of police is giving a free hand to such miscreants and allowing them to take law in their own hands.Mian Altaf also termed the behaviour of IGP Jammu as unfortunate, adding that the nomadic families are asked to seek permissions as if they are travelling from one country to another.“Why police acted as spectators when the these nomadic family was brutally being assaulted, their homes were set on fire, adding that instead of acting why the families are asked to seek permissions if they are moving within their country and state” Mian Altaf asked. He also asked the state governments to take stringent action against the accused persons and ensure safety of the nomadic families who travel between the Jammu's Himalayan Mountains and the meadows of Kashmir every year with their livestock.“The state government should take action against such elements who want to create trouble in the state, adding that the state government will be soly responsible for the consequences if any such incident was repeated” the statement said.
