A day after the closure of universities, colleges and higher secondary schools, clashes erupted between students and forces again at various places in north and central Kashmir.Witnesses said that the students at Palhallan area of Pattan chanting slogans like ‘we want justice’ took to the streets to protest against alleged thrashing of students by forces in Degree College Pulwama in last week and various colleges and higher secondary schools in the valley on Monday.The protesting students tried to block Srinagar-Baramulla highway during which forces used teargas canisters to disperse them, triggering clashes in the area.Similarly, clashes and protests were also reported from various other areas including Bomai area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, Ajas area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora, Kangan area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.The students were demanding action against the forces involved in ‘beating and thrashing of students’ in Degree College Pulwama’. Meanwhile, District magistrate Ganderbal has ordered closure of colleges in Ganderbal and Kangan for tomorrow following today’s protests. (KNS)
