The Czech Republic Ambassador Miloslav Stasek today called on Punjab industry, Commerce and Technical Education Minister  Madan Mohan Mittal and discussed the various issues regarding close cooperation in fields of renewable energy, biomass and water treatment in detail. Stasek informed that Czech Republic delegation would visit Punjab in May to discuss the possibilities to start these projects with mutual co-operation. He said that the motive of Czech Republic government is to reduce environmental pollution through these types of projects. The government is doing research with paddy straw to make construction material.

Madan Mohan Mittal discussed the initiatives of Punjab Government to make energy from agricultural waste. He said that recently the state government has sanctioned 250 MW capacity solar energy plants.He said that state government has recently announced fiscal incentives under new industrial policy, in which up to 90 per cent VAT and CST, property tax and stamp duty retention was given to industries having investment of 1 to 100 crore. He sought cooperation to improve the standard of technical education in the state. Mr. Mittal informed that four multi skill centers are being established in the state to fulfill the requirement of new emerging industrial sector and new Technical University is to be set up at Bathinda. Prominent amongst others, who were present on the occasion included; Mr. Karan Avtar Singh, Principal Secretary, Industry and Commerce and Mr. A.R.Talwar, Principal Secretary, Technical Education.
