Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri organized Annual Sports day at its campus. Prabhjot Singh, the Arjun Award Winner Indian Hockey player was the Chief Guest. More than 870 boys & girls participated in different sports & athletic events. Various games including Basketball, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Badminton & Chess were organized. Whereas athletic events consisted of a number of races involving different distances, Chatti race, Lemon Race, Relay Race etc. & Long Jump, Discuss Throw, Shot-put, High Jump, Javelin Throw and Tug of War were centre attraction of the show. Varinder Singh of 6th sem Mech. Engg. & Kiranjeet kaur of 6th sem ECE were declared the best athletes of CGC and the Deptt. of BCA bagged the Overall Trophy and the Deptt. of Civil Engg. Won the Runners-Up Trophy.
Arjun Awardee Prabhjot Singh congratulated all the participants & distributed trophies, medals & other prizes to the winners. He appreciated the management of CGC for providing excellent opportunities & liberal incentives to the students for developing their capabilities in sports and other co-curricular activities. He appealed to the students to spend some time for sports every day.Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC said that sports were extremely important for young students for keeping fit. He informed that gymnasiums with latest equipments were available in the hostels of CGC Jhanjeri.
