State Advisory Board for Development of Pahari Speaking People today observed its annual day releasing a document of its achievements and activities on the occasion here. The Report with 4250 pages and nine volumes has major accomplishments and activities of the Board scripted in it with emphasis on scholarships and development of infrastructural for the students of the community.“The Broad is a forum where there is adequate representation of Pahari Speaking People of different areas to ensure social, cultural, economical and political empowerment as well with emphasis on educational up-lift and the basis of good of the community”, maintained the spokesperson of the Board.Another scheme highlighted in the report is construction of new hostels for Pahari students at Jammu which inter alia include establishment of the facility at village Keran Bantalab with an estimated cost of Rs 5.64 crore.Presently, six boys Pahari hostels are functioning at Anantnag, Baramulla, Poonch, Jammu, Rajouri and Kupwara with intake capacity of 550 inmates. Besides, three girls Pahari Hostels are operational at Rajouri and Kupwara with 150 inmates with free boarding, lodging, stationary, uniforms, sports material, health checkup and other facilities.The Board provides Post-Higher Secondary scholarship to Pahari speaking students who are pursuing higher education within and outside the state including technical, professional courses, MBBS, BDS, BUMS, Engineering, PG courses in Medical and Engineering, BSc Agriculture, BVSC, BSC IT, MPhil, PhD, Non-Professional (and all other Government Recognised courses) including UG&PG level courses.The Scholarships are available for study of all recognized courses in recognized institutions except certain identified training courses and students studying through correspondence courses are also eligible.
