Tourism Deptt to organize ‘mega’ events to boost tourism

In a bid to boost the tourism Industry the JK Tourism is organizing mega national and international events which will benefit in promoting the state as preferred destination for year 2017.Secretary Tourism and Floriculture Farooq Ahmed Shah while giving the details confirmed that this year will be the year of festivals and events which started by the Tulip festival under the theme of Bahar-e-Kashmir followed by the cycle racing ,art and painting competition and now an international Urdu poetry event ‘Aalmi Mushaira’ which has international participation from UAE ,Tajikistan ,Nepal ,Egypt and other countries will be held on the banks of world famed Dal Lake.“The Urdu poetry event in which world famous poets including Rahat Indoori and Munawar Raina will participate will be telecasted live from all channels operated by ETv,” he said adding that on 15th April  sking event will be organized in Gulmarg in which more than 100 skiers will participate to showcase the potential of Gulmarg ski slopes while on 16th April, a mega Golf event will be organized at RSGC which will attract 300 Golfers from across the country who will play on the beautifully laid greens of international golf course RSGC.Secretary Tourism Farooq Ahemd Shah further said that this year will be the year of events and festivals across the state to attract the domestic and international tourists from all over the globe under the slogan of visit Jammu Kashmir.
