The casual labours and daily wagers of Public Health Engineering (PHE) on Saturday locked down the Chief Engineer’s office here to protest against the government for ‘failing to release their salary from past several months’.Notably, the Chief Engineer was inside the office when the protesters locked down the office.The PHE casual labours while chanting slogans against the government assembled outside the CE office to press the government over their demands.The protesting casual labours however locked down the office as mark of protest against the government. The Chief Engineer was inside the office when the protesters locked down the office.Earlier, President of PHE casual labours and daily wagers, Sajad Ahmad Parray told KNS that the government has failed to release their salaries from past several months thereby leaving the PHE daily wagers and casual labours to suffer.“We have been facing immense hardships as the government has not released our wages from 14 months. Despite working with dedication, the government is ignoring us at all fronts,” he said.He said that besides failing to regularize their services, the government is now withholding their salaries on no grounds. “We want to tell the government why they are ignoring our plights,” Parray said.Threatening to launch agitation against the government, Parray said that in case the government failed to release their wages at earliest, they will took to streets against the government and will take extreme step fir which the current regime would be held responsible. The CE office was closed when the report was last filed. (KNS)
