District Development Commissioner, Bhupinder Kumar, today inaugurated Kissan Mela cum Exhibition organized by Agriculture Department.During the programme, awareness about modern agricultural techniques was created among the farm women groups and farmers from all the blocks. Besides, various stalls were installed by Agriculture and allied departments and private entrepreneurs.Additional District Development Commissioner, Narinder Singh Bali, Chief Agriculture Officer, Sunil Koul, Chief Horticulture Officer, Vipan pandita, Chief Animal husbandry Officer, Dr. Tariq parvez, Agriculture Development Officer, B.S Rana, District Agriculture Officer Prithvi Raj Bhagat and Assistant Soil Conservation Officer, Alyas Gatoo besides large number of farmers from far-flung areas were present on the occasion .Speaking on the occasion, DDC highlighted the pro-farmer initiatives being taken up by the government for rejuvenation of agriculture and allied sectors. He stressed upon the farmers of the district to acquaint themselves with the latest techniques to increase the production.The Mela also provided an opportunity to the farmers to display the samples of their farm produce besides awards were given to the progressive farmers.
