District Development Commissioner (DDC) Bandipora, Sajad Hussain, today kick-started plantation drive organized by Social Forestry Department by planting saplings of conifer in the Government Degree Collage campus in Sumbal.Officers of Forest, Social Forestry and Revenue departments besides Principal of the college and locals were present on the occasion.It given out that the Social Forestry Department is planting 49,955 saplings, including 24,835 conifer, 6,350 fruit plants and 18,770 various other kinds of saplings, in the district this year, covering 66 hectares of land.Speaking on the occasion, the DDC called for creating mass awareness among students and people at large through seminars and other related activities on the importance of tree plantation.
