A meeting of Department Related Standing Committee (DRSC-II) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council was held here today under the Chairmanship of Ramesh Arora to review the overall functioning of the Power Development Department (PDD).Legislators, Showkat Hussain Ganai, Naresh Kumar Gupta and Zaffar Iqbal Manhas were present in the meeting and shared their views with the officers of Power Development Department for further improving Power scenario in the state department.Secretary, Secretary Technical, PDD Asgar Ali briefed the Committee about the activities of the department and implementation of Central and State sponsored schemes besides regarding Steps taken by the Department to streamline the procurements in the department and other schemes operated by the PDD Department besides how many LED Bulbs are distributed upto date in the department.
The committee briefed about the present status of implementation of Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidiyut Yojana (RGGVY) in the state and total number of registered consumers with district wise break up and details of the revenue demotic and commercial during last 2 years. The Committee also briefed about the total number of villages and hamlets and what target set of their electrification and committee assured by the concerned authorities to provide electricity to left out 108 villages of the state especially far flung areas of Chenab valley.The Committee stressed upon the concerned that a policy should be framed to regularise the need base and casual labour workers.Among others, Managing Director JKPDC, Shah Faesal, Director Finance PDD, K K Gupta, Chief Engineers of various wings of the department besides senior officers and official of concerned department and council secretariat were also present in the meeting.
