District Development Commissioner, Baramulla, Dr. Nasir Ahmad Naqash today inaugurated plantation drive by planting Deodar saplings in the premises of Government High School Dewan Bagh.Additional Deputy Commissioner, CEO, DSWO, DFO, Social Forestry and officers from various departments were present on the occasion.On the occasion, it was given out that Forest Department is planting one lakh saplings of varied plant species at different places of the district including schools, colleges and road sides as per the action plan.The DDC stressed for involving educational institutions of the district in the drive under which Horticulture Department is providing saplings. He also said that plantation is important for maintaining ecological balance and impressed upon the officers of the concerned department to implement the action plan regarding plantation drive in letter and spirit.Later, the DDC also planted tree saplings in the premises of Degree College for Women, Government Boys Higher Secondary School and Girls Higher Secondary School, Baramulla.
