In order to examine and discuss the CAG’s Audit paras in respect of Jammu and Kashmir State Forest Corporation (JKSFC), a meeting of Public Undertakings (PUC) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly was held here today under the Chairmanship of Satpaul Sharma.Legislators, Javaid Ahmad Rana, Mohammad Khalil Bandh, Raja Manzoor Ahmed, Shakti Raj, Mumtaz Ahmed Khan and Naresh Kumar Gupta attended the meeting.The Committee examined the Audit Para No. 3.2 regarding procurement of imported timber in excess of the sanctioned quantity for cloudburst affected families in Leh and sought the reasons for doing so from the concerned officers. Besides, the Committee also reviewed the functioning of the Corporation and status of timber being supplied to the people and other social and religious organizations.Commissioner Secretary, Forests, Mohammad Afzal and Managing Director State Forest Corporation, Suresh Kumar Gupta briefed the Committee about the present status of CAGs Audit Paras and reasons for procuring the imported timber. They also informed about the present status of leftover stock of timber and maintained that the Corporation is trying to sell the leftover stocks of about 25000 cft to realize the deficit amount.The Committee was satisfied upon the reply given by the Corporation and decided to drop the Audit Para subject with the condition that the Corporation will get clearance from the Vigilance as soon as possible and also ensures that early disposal of the leftover stock of the timber within 6 months in order to recover the revenue loss faced by the Corporation.Accountant General, CAG, H Abbas also highlighted the observations pointed out by the CAGs Audit Para pertaining to the State Forest Corporation.Among others, Chief General Manager(P&P), SFC, I A Bhutt, Director Finance Forest, Shaheen Mohammad Ashraf, besides senior officers and officials of Assembly Secretariat were also attended the meeting.
