An awareness campaign NOOR Jeevan Ka- Betiyan , an initiative under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao abhiyan was launched by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Avny Lavasa during a program held at Chenani today.During the week long campaign awareness programmes would be held at different places across the district under different themes such as Women and importance of cleanliness, Nutrition and health of Adolescent Girls , Legal awareness on Domestic Violence and harassment at work places.The objective of holding such campaign is to create awareness among the people about the Beti Bachao , Beti Padhao scheme and to further reduce the rate of female foeticide in the district.In today's programme an awareness session on topic Women and financial literacy was also held to sensitise the participants .While addressing the gathering, the ADC highlighted the importance of Financial literacy for women empowerment and stressed that a financially empowered woman can contribute in the financial management of her family.
She also highlighted the role of Local Complaint Committee constituted at the district headquarter in resolving the complaints of women.The participants were also apprised about the UMEED (National Rural Livelihood Mission) scheme which aims at generating different sources of livelihood by means of social mobilization, institution building and financial inclusion.District Information Center, Udhampur organized a cultural programme on the occasion with the help of which the people were made aware about the various schemes for the welfare of Girl Child.PO DRDA, Jagdish Chander Mehra, District Information Officer, Esha Chib, Tehsildar Chenani Pardeep Singh, Naib tehsildar Chenani, Tehsil Social welfare officer Chenani and a large number of women attended the awareness campaign.
