Minister of State for Education, Technical Education, Tourism and Culture Priya Sethi today said “Through purposeful collaboration, we can help women advance and unleash their limitless potential for the greater good of the society”.The Minister said this at a function organized by Amateur Theatre Group at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu to celebrate “Women’s Day” with the teaching faculty of various schools.The function was organized to emphasize the need of ‘Theatre in Education’ at every school level and its impact in building, strengthening the society, especially females.Additional DG Press Information Bureau, Additional Registrar for RI, Chairman for INPCC and Chairperson J&K Police Wives’ Welfare Association (PWWA) Bharti Vaid was also present on the occasion.The Minister said that “Each one of us - with women and men joining forces - can be a leader within our own spheres of influence by taking bold pragmatic action to accelerate gender parity”.
Emphasizing the role of culture and arts education at primary and secondary education level, Minister said that since decades women have struggled and are still fighting to express their right to speech, to vote, to equality, to education, to income and most importantly, to freedom and arts education provides necessary confidence boost to women to come out and share the responsibility in all spheres of life.She strongly advocated for encouraging art and culture education in all school curriculums.The Minister was impressed by the scintillating performances presented by faculty from various schools. She also appreciated the efforts of Amateur Theatre Group for encouraging the women force specially the teaching faculty because theatre in education is the need of the hour.Bharti Vaid also gave examples of Women's courage and exemplary bravery in the belt force and said the seeds of equal participation are sown in schools itself.Sahitya Academy Awardee Mustaq Kak also spoke on why theatre is important for the teaching faculty.Later the Minister also distributed prizes among Students who excelled in various events including Debates, Rangoli, Skit and VS test of various subjects.Many schools faculty participated in the event including New Era Environmental High School, Alexander Memorial School, Lawrence Public School, Panjtirthi, Bikram Memorial School Bishnah, S.D. Tarapuri School, J&K Police Public School, Miran Sahib, J.K. Montessori School, Lawrence Public School, Sidhra, Bhagwati Haqiqat Memorial School.
