Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J), called on Governor N. N. Vohra, at the Raj Bhavan here today and briefed him about several important matters relating to the functioning of the University and preparations underway for the University’s Convocation and upcoming Kissan Mela.Vice Chancellor informed the Governor about the to-date status of upcoming Krishi Vigyan Kendra at Samba district and the Organic Training Centre at Talwara in Reasi district; and about the workshops and conferences organised by the University in the past months.Governor complimented the Vice Chancellor and the concerned Faculty for winning the national level “Best Centre Award” for its “Integrated Farming System”; “Young Scientist Award” by Dr. R. Punia, Asstt. Prof. Agronomy; “Best Research Paper” Award by Dr. Vivek M. Arya and “Gold Medal for Excellence in Research” by Dr. Pradeep Rai, in the Ist Asian Conference on Water and Land Management for Food Livelihood Security; “Ram Raksha Kiran Shukla Gold Medal” by Dr. Arvind Kumar, Asstt. Professor Division of Livestock Products Technology for contribution in the Zoonotic Diseases; “Netaji Subhash International Fellowship” by Dr. Zuhaib Fayaz Bhat; “Doctor D.C. Blood Gold Medal” by Dr. Neelesh Sharma. Asstt. Professor Division of Veterinary Medicine and Dr. Anish Yadav, Associate Professor Division of Veterinary Parasitology, for securing from ICAR the “Project on development of Diagnostic Kit for Detection of Warble Fly infestation in Goats”.
