District Development Commissioner Shopian, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, today chaired a meeting to finalize preparations for mega plantation drive in the district.The meeting decided that the plantation drive would be held from March 10 by plantation of conifers, chinar and stone fruit plants at district and tehsil headquarters, district and sub-district hospitals and Government offices.It was given out that the plantation drive would be held at educational institutions of the district onMarch 15 by planting saplings of ornamental Mulberry plants and conifers. During the drive, which will culminate on March 30, as many as 45 thousand saplings would be planted at identified locations. On the occasion, the DDC directed officials of concerned Departments to strictly adhere to the action plan formulated for effective plantation drive. He stressed the officers to put in concerted efforts so that more and more space is brought under green cover to restore and protect environmental and ecological balance.SDM Zainapora, ACD, DFO, CEO, BDOs and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
