JK State Commission for Women organizes awareness camp at Rajouri

To make the women aware of their constitutional rights and also to mitigate the problems faced by them in the society the Jammu and Kashmir State Commission for Women today organized awareness programme at Degree College Rajouri where its Chairperson Nayeema Ahmad Mehjoor was the chief guest and Aijaz Abdullah secretary state commission for the women was the guest of honour.Speaking on the occasion, the Chairperson said that Commission has the mandate to monitor all matters relating to constitutional and legal safeguards provided for women. Underscoring the need for realising the position of women in the society the chairperson asked the women present there to utilise their position in the society as their strength and not as their weakness. God has blessed the women with a very pivotal position and all the religions stress upon the respect and care of the women she said. “The empowerment of the women should not be at cost of their family life”, she said while stressing the importance of the women in the family. She expressed satisfaction for conduct of awareness programme and called for organizing such more awareness programmes in future so as to enable women and girls to know their legal rights and to understand the procedure and method of access to the legal systems.Speaking on the occasion, Additional District development Commissioner Rajouri urged upon the girls to focus on their education to achieve goals in life saying that education is the only and best way for the empowerment of the women.Principal Govt Degree College Rajouri Shabir Hussain Shah, Program Officer ICDS M N Sheikh, DSWO Dr Abdul Kabir and a large number of women including students, Asha workers and Anganwadi workers were present on the occasion.
