Aam Aadmi Party no more 'aam' : Ajay Maken

The Congress party on Friday attacked Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his party after the central government returned the file of salary hike of its MLAs, saying the ruling AAP is no more an "aam aadmi" party but a "khaas" party."Before coming to power, they in their affidavits mentioned they won't take bungalows, won't use cars and they shall end the VIP culture," Delhi COngress President Ajay Maken told IANS while releasing a paper on the failures of the Delhi government."According to the new proposal, they demanded a salary hike of over 400 per cent," Maken said, adding the party was no more the "aam aadmi party (party of common people), but has now become a khaas (special) party".The Congress leader's remarks came after the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) returned a bill to Delhi government and sought clarification on suggesting a hike of nearly 400 per cent in the existing salaries and perks for AAP MLAs."The Member of Legislative Assembly of NCT of Delhi (salaries, allowances, pension etc.) Amendment Bill has been sent back to the Delhi government as we have sought more clarification on a number of issues," an MHA official told IANS requesting anonymity.Maken said that according to the new proposal by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, the MLAs would get Rs 25,000 as rent for their offices, Rs 12 lakh for buying a vehicle and Rs 3 lakh per year for taking their families on vacation.
