District Development Commissioner, Niraj Kumar today flagged off a farmer's tour being organized by Horticulture Department under “Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) 2016-17” from DC Complex, here.While addressing the gathering, the DC called upon the participants to avail benefit of this opportunity and said that such training programmes would help in development of the horticulture sector in the district.Meanwhile, Chief Horticulture Officer Udhampur informed that about 30 orchardists from ten zones of district Udhampur are participating in the training programme in which they would be imparted training regarding new interventions in horticulture sector.Besides this, the orchardists shall be given the first hand knowledge of latest techniques at SKUAST-J, RHSS, Udheywalla, Dry Land Research Station, Raya.The tour programme also includes a visit to Krishi Vigyan Kendrya, Reasi and Advanced Centre for Horticulture Development, Govindpura, Ramban where the orchardists shall be imparted training regarding protected cultivation, micro-irrigation, orchard management, nutrient management, canopy management, dry land horticulture, plant multiplication and commercial cultivation of high yielding cultivars, he added.
