Press Information Bureau (PIB) Jammu in collaboration with District Information Centre Poonch organized a media workshop titled as 'VARTALAP ' at Dak Bungalow Poonch.Deputy Commissioner Poonch Mohammad Harun Malik while inaugurating the workshop said that journalists serve as a vital link in the chain of information, and play a significant role in the process of establishing a direct two-way communication process between the administration and the citizens. He urged upon media persons to work with utmost sincerity and dedication without any bias towards the larger good of the society.Speaking on the occasion, Media and Communications Officer, PIB Jammu Sunil Koul stressed the need to give preference to proactive development journalism in the region so that people at grassroots can be made aware about the schemes run by Central and State governments for their welfare. He urged the participating journalists to play positive role in highlighting development issues and be a mirror to the government in the implementation of the welfare schemes.Number of working journalists from the district who participated in the event were sensitized about their role in highlighting local issues and making people aware in rural areas about benefits of various government welfare schemes.Special sessions about healthy journalism and role of a local journalist viz-a-viz development in rural areas were also held in the workshop, which were addressed by a number of senior and experienced working journalists besides other trainers. Media and Communication officer PIB Jammu , Vijay Kumar Mangotra, DIO Poonch were among the experts who spoke at the workshop.
