LA panel asks JKSPDC to fast-pace ongoing power projects

The Public Undertaking Committee (PUC) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today reviewed the overall power scenario in the State at a meeting held here today under  the Chairmanship of Mr. Satpaul Sharma with the functionaries of the Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation (JKSPDC). The Committee also took stock of the status of various on-going power projects in the State and called for fast pacing the work to complete them in a timeline.The Committee, besides reviewing the functioning of the organization, also examined the Audit Paras of CAGs Audit Report for the year 2014-15 pertaining to the Corporation. It expressed concern over inordinate delay in execution of the Power Projects and called for imposing appropriate penalty on the erring contractors.The Committee directed the Corporation to clear all the bottlenecks like acquisition of land and compensation before taking up the projects so that they don’t get delayed on this count.

Legislators, Mohammad Akbar Lone, Javaid Ahmed Rana, Mohammad Khalil Bandh, Mohammad Amin Bhat, Raja Manzoor Ahmed, Shah Mohammad Tantray, Shakti Raj, Rajeev Sharma and Naresh Kumar Gupta were also present in the meeting and put their suggestions on the Audit Report pertaining to the working of the Corporation.Deputy Accountant General, D D Verma highlighted the observations pointed out by the CAGs in its Audit Report pertaining to the working of the Corporation.Commissioner Secretary, Power Development Department, Dheeraj Gupta and Managing Director, Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation, Shah Faesal, Special Secretary Legislative Assembly, Director Finance, Chief Engineers of different wings, besides senior officers of concerned departments and Assembly Secretariat were also present in the meeting.
