Speaker, J&K Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta, today undertook surprise inspection of various revenue offices including that of SDM Jammu South, Tehsildar South, Naib Tehsildar Satwari and Naib Tehsildar Digiana.The Speaker conducted the surprise check following public complaints regarding negligent and unsympathetic attitude of some revenue officials towards the general population and alleged lack of work culture in these offices.
During the inspection, the office of Naib Tehsildar Satwari was found locked with multiple employees absent from duty without any valid reason or prior permission.The Speaker asked the Divisional Commissioner Jammu to initiate disciplinary action against the delinquent officials.Later, the Speaker undertook extensive tour of Gandhi Nagar constituency and reviewed the status of various ongoing works being executed in the area.During the visit, locals apprised the Speaker of the pace of work on various development projects being undertaken in their respective areas.
Regarding the Mega Deep Drain Development project for Nai Basti and Digiana, the Speaker was informed that the work is taking considerably longer than what was earlier projected due to the thick density of existing infrastructure and population.Taking serious view of the issue, the Speaker asked the concerned officials, to update the work timeline according to the area specific exigencies and strictly adhere to them to minimize the inconvenience to public besides reducing economic loss to these market areas.The Speaker also visited Greater Jammu to survey the existing sanitation network available to the residents of the area. He directed the concerned officials to prepare a project to connect the local drainage network with main sewerage drain (nallah) besides ensuring removal of blockages in the network and regular maintenance of the same.The Speaker also inspected the up-gradation work in progress for drainage network development at Main Road, Trikuta Nagar, near Channi Puli and directed the concerned department for timely completion of the same. The Speaker was accompanied by SDM Jammu South Sonu Pargal besides officers and officials from JMC, UEED, PHE, PDD and other concerned departments.
