Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Showkat Aijaz Bhat, today visited Kund valley to take stock of arrangements for ongoing annual Urs of sufi saint Hazrat Syed Noor Shah Saheb Wali Baghdadi (RA).ADC Kulgam, Xens of R&B, PHE, AEE PDD Qazigund, Tehsildar Devsar, EO MC Devsar, AD FCS&CA, DSP Qazigund and other concerned accompanied the DC during the visit.The week-long Urs of the saint commenced from January 30 and shall be observed with reverence at his Kund shrine till February 7, 2017. On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner stressed officers to ensure all the necessary arrangements to facilitate devotees who throng the shrine. He directed officials of R&B Department to clear snow in and around the premises of the shrine.He directed the officers to ensure uninterrupted power supply, safe drinking water supply, proper sanitation measures, illumination and decoration of the shrine, healthcare facilities and security arrangements at the Shrine. He also asked them to distribute adequate quantity of sugar, kerosene, cooking oil, and LPG among the people of Kund.He also directed the Tehsildar Devsar to intensify market checking in Waltango and its adjoining areas on Urs days so that edibles and essential commodities remain available for devotees at concessional rates.
