A 6 member delegation of ‘Haq Insaaf Council’, led by its President Mr. Zeshan Syed, called on Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here today.The delegation raised several demands before the Governor which included: engaging Pir Panjaal region’s youth in the dialogue and peace building processes; raising adequate infrastructure for making Jammu University’s Poonch Campus functional; establishing colleges for women for Rajouri and Poonch districts; inclusion of Gojri and Pahari languages in the syllabus from Primary to Secondary level; establishment of Gojri and Pahari Research Centres; introducing simple procedures for financial assistance to start businesses; establishment of Agriculture and Horticulture University in Pir Panjaal region; promotion of the tourism potential of the region; effective functioning of the transparency and accountability institutions in the State; provision of good quality sports infrastructure in the region; complete ban on alcohol use and curb on drug abuse; four laning of Natinal Highway from Bufliaz to Rajouri and Jammu to Poonch; rail services for the region; participation of youth in cross LoC trade at Chakkan-Da-Bagh; sanctioning of micro-hydel power projects in the region.Appreciating the initiatives being taken by the Council to expose corruption and enhance transparency, the Governor urged the delegation members to work devotedly for promoting the interests of the society.
