The Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, who is also District Panchayat Election Officer, Showkat Aijaz Bhat today chaired a meeting to review the preparedness for upcoming panchayat election.The meeting was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, ACD, DPO, all the AEROs, BDOs and representatives of Election Office. The meeting was informed that in the district, there are 11 Rural Blocks comprising of 206514 eligible voters having 1180 Panch Constituencies & 176 Sarpanch Constituencies.The District Panchayat Election Officer, on the occasion, directed the field functionaries to be ready for holding elections in near future. He also directed them to start the bifurcation & corrective measures for the smooth conduct of Panchayat Elections.On the occasion, all the BDOs received election related material & necessary instructions for the said purpose.
