District Development Commissioner Shopian, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, today flagged off a bus carrying a batch of 22 progressive breeders from Shopian, Anantnag and Kulgam districts of the South Kashmir for fifteen-day exposure-cum-training tour to different parts of the India. The tour programme being organized by District Sheep Husbandry Officer Shopian.Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said the tour will help the progressive breeders to acquaint themselves with the latest technologies being practiced outside the State. He appreciated the efforts of Sheep Husbandry Department and stressed that more such programmes should be organised for capacity building and skill development of breeders for the development of sheep husbandry sector. It was said that during the study tour the breeders will visit Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan and other prominent States of the country to gain knowledge and technical knowhow of the sector.It is pertinent to mention that District Shopian has 1.20 lakh sheep population.
