DC Kathua reviews progress of Education Department

District Development Commissioner, Ramesh Kumar chaired a meeting to review the progress achieved by the education department under various schemes here at DC Office Complex Kathua today.The DDC was apprised that out of 41 schools under RMSA, renovation/construction of 27 schools were completed and the rest of the schools were at different stages of completion. CEO Kathua informed that under inclusive education of SSA, assessment camps were organized in which 121 children with special needs, irrespective of kind, category and degree of disability were identified. He further said that to bring about positive change in the confidence of girl students, self defence camps will be held in the district from 6 February onwards. Remedial classes have been started for underperforming students. Besides, continuous process of career counseling is also going on in different schools of the district.

DDC Kathua informed during the meeting that 50 female students who excelled well in different fields will soon get an opportunity to have one day visit outside the state under BBBP scheme. Laying emphasis on career counseling he said that it should be conducted on mission mode as it helps in determining the true potential of the students and help students get a clear view of what they can expect from various educational courses and also directed to include experts from different services for better guidance. For ongoing remedial classes he directed CEO Kathua to regularly monitor and evaluate to bring out the positive changes in the performance and further requirements of the students.While appreciating the efforts of teachers and students who participated in the recently held one day science exhibition at Kathua, DDC laid thrust on ZEOs to include innovative methods and models displayed by students for better conceptual understanding and generating interest in the subject. He further directed technical staff to increase the pace of ongoing development works strictly adhering to the specified norms and deadlines. CEO Kathua, XENs, ZEOs and other officers from education department were present during the meeting.
