To assess the situation arising out of the recent snowfall in north Kashmir, the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Abdul Haq and Minister for Relief, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management, Syed Basharat Ahmad Bukhari today conducted extensive tour of Bandipora, Kupwara and Baramulla districts.The Ministers sought complete synergy between various agencies on the ground dealing with snow clearance and other restoration works so that people are provided succour at an earliest. They asked the concerned Departments to ensure speedy and prompt restoration measures during such situations in future.At Bandipora, the Ministers received first hand appraisal regarding the situation post snowfall in a meeting with District development Commissioner and other sectoral Officers.The DDC, Sajad Hussain briefed the Ministers regarding the measures taken by the district administration for the convenience of the people.

On the occasion various public deputations met the Ministers and apprised them regarding the difficulties confronting them.While reviewing the measures taken for snow clearance and restoration of essential services and supplies in Kupwara district, the Ministers accompanied by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan take stock of restoration works undertaken besides measures for ensuring availability of essentials in the district.The District Development Commissioner Kupwara, G.M Dar informed them that 64 percent of power supply has been restored and process for complete restoration is going on, while as healthcare facilities are being provided as per routine. 

He also informed that ration is available in sufficient quantity in the District.The DDC further told that one death has been reported in the district, besides 283 structures have been partially and two structures have been fully damaged, while as 16 school buildings have reportedly damaged partially and 27 power transformers got damaged due to snow fall.At Baramulla the Ministers chaired an officers meeting at Dak Bungalow, where in, the District Development Commissioner, Dr. Nasir Ahmad Naqash informed the visiting Ministers about the measures taken with regard to the snow clearance and restoration of other essentials services in the district.On the occasion, it was given out that 90 percent power supply has been restored. While as healthcare facilities and drinking water supply is provided as per routine. It was said that sufficient stocks of ration is available in the District.Various deputations from the different parts of the district also met with the Ministers and put forth their demands and issues including restoration of road connectivity, up gradation of power transformers and adequate supply of power and water to the people.The Ministers assured the people that all their issues and problems would be looked into for timely redressal.
