Locals from Qamarwari Block of Srinagar city Tuesday staged a protest accusing a Village Level Worker of fraud and corruption. The protesting residents from Takanwari, Bakshipora and Tengapora alleged that a Village Level Worker (name withheld) from Qamarwari Block demands bribe for the construction of toilets under Swach Bharat Mission.“For the construction of every toilet, this VLW demands Rs 1000 as bribe. We are poor and don’t afford it,” the protesters told CNS.They said that the said VLW has already been transferred from the Block however; despite relieved by the government he is still calling shots in the Qamarwari Block.“He is looting state exchequer and seeking bribe from everyone for the works he has been doing in the area,” they alleged and appealed Divisional Commissioner to look into the matter.
