Carrying “Broom” (Jhaaru) in their one hand and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) flag in the other, thousands of Punjabi Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) today thronged the sleepy villages of Jalandhar, known as NRI Capital of Punjab, to wake up Punjabis for the ensuing “Freedom Struggle” (Assembly Polls) to free their Punjab from the clutches of the corrupt regime of Badals. Under the banner of “Chalo Punjab NRI rally”, a convoy of 300 plus cars led by three buses full of NRIs, campaign started from Bhagwan Ravi Das Chowk in Jalandhar and headed towards the NRI dominated constituency of Nakodar and on the way it was a pleasant surprise for the onlookers to see such a high number of NRIs, who were peeping out of their vehicles to wave brooms in their hands and raising slogans “Jhaaru wala button daba dyo punjabiyo, Badalan nu sabak sikha dyo Punjabiyo”. The NRIs passes through seven constituencies of Jalandhar district and everywhere they were given a rousing welcome by people, who were seen murmuring that now NRIs have taken the most deserving responsibility of getting free Punjab from the clutches of corrupt Badals. The flag carrier of Chalo Punjab Campaign, Joban Randhawa (Founder Chalo Punjab Movement)  , Sumesh Handa ( National Secretary AAP CANADA)  and Satbeer Brar (Outreach Convener AAP USA) were leading the campaign.
As soon as the convoy reached Nakodar, all NRIs alighted from their vehicles and started dancing on the tunes of lyrics of the songs sung for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).Other prominent NRIs, who were part of the convoy includeSurinver Mavi, Jodhbir Jodha, Jagtar Sanghera (NRI Convener of AAP) Preeti Menon (Co-convener AAP Overseas, Amritpal Singh and Manjinder Singh of USA.While talking to media Surinder Mavi said “I feel proud that I am part of this first ever historic NRI rally.  NRIs have come in huge numbers to save Punjab and I am one of them”.Another NRI, Satbeer Brar, who was leading the campaign “even after threats made by Captain Amrinder Singh, NRIs have shown they are true sons of Punjab. Long live Revolution”.It has been an honour that our Chalo Punjab movement has now become a household NRI revolution”, Joban Randhawa said adding that after assessing the kind of massive response of people, he was sure that AAP would not win less than 100 seats in the ensuing assembly polls.People have already made up their minds to show exit doors to Badals and No Entry for Congress to form Punjab Government”, he added.
