District Development Commissioner Kupwara, G. M. Dar, today convened a meeting to review arrangements put in place for Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) campaign in the district.The meeting was informed that 1.36 lakh children below 5 years of age will be covered under the programme to be held across the district on January 29, 2017, for which 720 IPPI booths have been setup.For effective implementation of the campaign 3083 workers have been engaged, besides 146 supervisors and 38 mobile medical teams have been deployed.On the occasion, the DDC directed the concerned to ensure 100 percent coverage under IPPI action plan so as to prevent children from the crippling disease.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner paid an extensive tour to different areas of the district to review snow clearance measures and to inspect restoration works being carried out by different departments.He was informed that power supply has been restored in Kupwara town last evening, while as efforts are afoot to restore water supply to many places. He was briefed that safe drinking water supply is being supplied to these areas through water tankers.It was said that adequate stock of ration is available in stores of the district.
