The Punjab Pradesh Congres Party (PPCC) received a big blow on Monday when its General Secretary and President of Saini Samaj Punjab Harbhag Singh Saini, Ajit Paul Singh Naphrey Chairman SC wing District Congress ropar, Amritpal Singh General Secretary District Congress Ropar along with their supporters joined the Shiromani Akali Dal in presence of the SAD President and Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal today. Dr Daljit Singh Cheema Secretary and Spokesman of the SAD and candidate of the SAD-BJP combine from Ropar constituency was also present on the occasion.
Welcoming these leaders into party fold Mr. Badal said that Congress was a sinking ship and its leaders have realized that the party has miserably failed to do any good for the state of Punjab. He said that these elections will witness complete rout of the party from the Punjab as has been witnessed in the other parts of the country.Mr. Badal announced that Mr. Harbhag Singh Saini will be Vice President of the party and Mr. Ajitpal Singh will be Vice President of SC wing of the SAD.
On the occasion Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said that the with the joining of these leaders in the SAD fold Congress has suffered a big jolt and it was all set to receive a crushing defeat in the Ropar constituency besides other areas of the state. He said that he was thankful to these leaders as they had realized that it was only the SAD-BJP combine which had done unprecedented development in the area as has been done throughout the state.On the occasion Mr. Harbhag Singh Saini, Ajitpal Singh and Amritpal Singh said that they were feeling suffocated in the Congress party since long time as no one was interested in the development of the Ropar area or working for the upliftment of oppressed economically backward classes of the society. They said that the decision of the Congress party to field Mr.Barinder Dhillon from Ropar in an insult to the hard working leaders of the Congress who were deliberately ignored by the High command.They said that they had felt that it was only the SAD which is working with sole agenda of development and welfare of different sections of the society, so they decided to join the SAD. They thanked the party President Mr. Badal and Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema on the occasion.
