Punjab Congress president Captain Amarinder on Wednesday took his battle against the Chief Minister to his home turf of Lambi with the filing of nomination papers and the promise to cook Parkash Singh Badal’s goose in his own backyard.

Launching what he has described as the `grandfather of all battles’, Captain Amarinder, who went to the Badal stronghold of Lambi in a massive procession after filing his nomination at Malout, said he had vowed to wipe Badal from Punjab’s political scene and had come to Lambi to do teach him a lesson for life.Accompanied by cheering crowds and amidst the boisterous cacophony of drums, Captain Amarinder said he would teach Badal a lesson for all the atrocities unleashed on the people of the state during the last 10 years, and set an example for all future chief ministers to ensure that they do not abuse their power to victimize the people the way Badal had done. With thousands of people lined up through the entire stretch from Malout to Lambi cheering him on, an aggressive Captain Amarinder, who is fighting his last election, declared that neither Parkash Singh Badal nor his kin would be spared for their wrong doings and for bringing Punjab to such a pathetic situation.

The road to Lambi was pinned by posters declaring `Captain hun daharega, Chitta Badal harega’ (Captain will now unleash a battle cry, Chitta Badal will be defeated).Talking to mediapersons en route  Lambi, Captain Amarinder said he would not rest till he had cooked Badal’s goose. The Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president, who had on Tuesday filed his nomination papers from Patiala while exhorting the people there to take care of his home town while he takes on Badal, said he would give the thrashing of a lifetime to the chief minister in Lambi. Asserting that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was nowhere on the Punjab poll scene, Captain Amarinder accused its leader Arvind Kejriwal of spreading false propaganda that the anti-incumbency vote against the Shiromani Akali Dal would get divided. The Congress would win hands down, and will make a clean sweep of these elections, declared Captain Amarinder. The Punjab Congress president thanked the people of Lambi for their show of strength and their support for the Congress and promised that he will not let them down in their hour of need.
