The 28th Road safety week, with the theme “Your Safety, Secures Your Family-Be Cautious on Road”, concluded here today.During the week long campaign, various events including exhibitions, Nukkad Natak, symposium, medical checkup camps for commercial drivers, workshop for drivers and helpers of school buses besides awareness programmes were held to impart awareness about driving etiquettes, road safety rules and precautionary measures besides guidelines for obtaining various services and documents from the department.The conclusion programme was organised at Government Degree College, Kathua where Member Legislative Assembly, Rajiv Jasrotia was the chief guest.RTO Kathua Amarjeet Singh, ARTO Indu Jamwal, Principal GDC Kathua Netar Singh, DC Excise Rajesh Sharma, representatives of various transport unions and private schools, volunteers of NCC and NSS besides college students were present during the programme.Speaking on the occasion, Rajiv Jasrotia hailed the efforts of Regional Transport Office for organizing informative campaigns with active involvement of youth during the event. He said that these activities should not be limited to a week but it must be ensured that every stakeholder follow traffic rules while being on the road.Amarjeet Singh briefed about various events held during the week long campaign and added that various reforms had been under taken by the department in which online registration of vehicles has started while issuance of Driving License shall be made online by next month.Later, prizes and certificates were distributed among the participants who participated in the week long activities.
