District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Tariq Hussain Ganai, today visited Lar and Wakura blocks of the district to inspect various ongoing developmental works under Rural Development Department there.District Panchayat Officer Ganderbal, BDOs of Lar and Wakura, besides Deputy Chief Education Officer and other concerned accompanied the DDC.During the visit, the DDC inspected construction of playground at Manigam being executed by RDD at an estimated cost of Rs 51 lakhs and another playground at Gurwan Lar. He also visited Block Training Centre, Umeed Lar and interacted with community cadre there. He was informed that 380 self-help groups have been formed in Lar who play pivotal role in social mobilization and community awareness.The DDC also inspected works being executed by IWMP Ganderbal, which are meant for conserving water, protecting soil and ensuring assured irrigation facilities to the rain fed areas. He inspected ongoing works of Benhama road being carried out by RDD at an estimated cost of Rs 7.70 lakh.Later, the DDC inspected Middle School Waskura and High School Lar and reviewed their functioning.
