Rs 16.33 cr spent on Rajal Irrigation Scheme : Sham Lal Choudhary

Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary, today in reply to a Question raised by Legislator Ravinder Raina in the House, informed that Rajal Gravity Feeder channel started during the year 2006-07, is an on-going scheme approved under AIBP at an estimated cost of Rs 1750 lakh.  The expenditure incurred on the project till March 2016 is Rs 1633.26 lakh. An additional amount of Rs 588.74 lakh is required for its completion which is estimated to be within 2 years time.Regarding the expenditure on electricity to run the said irrigation channel, the Minister said that an amount of Rs 6.47 crore have been spent during the last five years.Giving details about the present status of irrigation schemes in Nowshera area, the Minister said that the Siot canal has been made functional and is providing irrigational facilities to 127 hectares of land. The Thumba Nehoti canal is a gravity scheme and is partially functional. The efforts are being made to clear the bottlenecks to make it fully functional at the earliest, he added.Regarding the status of Beri Pattan Lift Irrigation Scheme approved under AIBP, then Minister informed that up to date expenditure incurred on the scheme till March 2016 is Rs 1146.91 lakh, and remaining amount of Rs 3961.09 lakh is required for its completion which is expected to be within the next two years. Mr. Shah Mohammad Tantry raised the supplementary question relating to the status of irrigation scenario in his constituency.
